Culture is a story.
It is outside of who we are.
Belief in Culture Stories assimilate us into our groups. We are is so much bigger than these stories.
We’ve been frozen into Culture Stories based on ancient survival needs— fear of ostracization. Our amygdala says we must stay connected to our communities no matter what. We buy into Culture Stories of bootstraps, of colonialism, of taking, of “beauty,” of power, of binaries. We don’t need them. We are so much bigger than these stories.
We can simply move.
We are all building this culture — artists, philosophers, priests, teachers, barbers, doctors. Shifting Culture Stories is a vocation for this time.
